Reservation Policy India

In India there is no creamy layer concept with regard to SC/ST reservation. Irrespective of income status or other government post held by their parents, children will get SC/ST reservation. Schedule caste are given 15% reservation in government jobs and higher educational institution and Scheduled Tribe are given 7.5% quota. The Other Backward Class are given 27% quota in government jobs and higher education. It can be observed that almost 60% of seats are reserved for various sections of caste in India. For the meritorious candidates only 40% of seats are available for which even reserved category can also compete. In my opinion, it is the time where we should accept the change. I strongly urge the appropriate government to form a committee to review the reservation policy in India. Union government can think of amending the Indian Constitution which allows reservation for socially and educationally background classes. However, reservation may be provided to those who are economically back irrespective of their caste or religion.

  1. Yes. I agree to what the above mentioned points. Reservation should be based on economic condition of a person. People are finding loopholes in the education system, recently it came into the news that inspite of the Family being from a above middle class income category, who had their job profiles as well to do doctors, both of their children applied for seat into medical under reservation category of ST to get a relief from the fees structure. Hence depriving other needy candidates of the opportunities to get a medical seat. Those people who are from lower income category can't afford the tuition fees of medical education because it is already taken by the higher income category. There is also a movie by the actor irfan khan named 'English medium' on this issue wherein the rich people potray as poor or lower caste by producing fake certificates to get seats into such prestigious institutes, because it's the marks which their child need to get into the institute but the cut off for Reserved category is less compared to general category. Hence they produce the reserved category certificate and also potray as poor people. All because of the Education system in India.

  2. I do agree with the points there. It's like the efforts given by everyone else is not taken into matter. It's all about caste. The reservations should be on who deserves more taking into consideration their economic stability and not the caste

  3. Yes, I agree with your opinion. India is said to be a country where everyone is treated equally. But this cannot be seen in policies formed by the government. Nowadays, people take advantage of these facilities. Even after having so much wealth, the want to use such quotas to get their work done. If a general category student scores 95 percent and an SC/ST Student scores 60 percent, there is no difference. Both get into the top colleges. Now we are discriminating and this is not fair. We can give many examples where few people, just because of their caste get more importance than the rest, which is wrong.

  4. Yes I strongly fell that the government should address this issue due to reservation the deserving candidates are not getting the opportunity that they deserve and even if the candidate is undeserving they get into to prestigious institutions like IITs and they drop out as they are unable to Handel the academic pressure the dropout rates of such category students are high and they wasted the seat which a deserving candidate would have got and he would make ample use of this opportunity. I'm the name of reservation we are pulling out country backwards government sector is filled with people with reservation who don't have the slighest idea about the work. The talented youngsters are going to other countries as their talents are valued there and they help to build that country and we are still wondering why are we not coming up. Talent and merit should be given priority and not caste.

  5. Yes I agree with you. Reservation policy in India should be revised, based on the economic conditions of human being. There many people who belogs to OC category and are very poor who cannot afford many benefits from government.so government should go a committee to review reservation policy.

  6. I would wholeheartedly agree with this revision of reservation policy. The main problem is that in the reserved or backward classes, applicability for any benefits, scholarships, schemes is quite a simply process. It doesn't take into consideration the value of property or assets held by the individual, especially with people working abroad or people with their own business. Either the government should take necessary steps in reviewing the assets and income held and also include economically backward classes, irrespective of which caste or religion they belong to.

  7. Yes sir, I totally agree with you. The SC/ST and other backward class people will always have special preference. Though having less knowledge in work because of reservation they get jobs and when it comes to general category people tend to face more competition. So, I strongly think that government should form a committee to review the reservation policy.

  8. Yes I agree with ur opinion. In India most of the times people will differentiate between caste religion. SC/ST people will get more advantage comparing to other caste or religion. It's better that government should revise that reservation policy, and treat each and every person in India treat equally.
