Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019, do not have any effect to the following:
- The 2019 amendment to the Citizenship Act does not effect either directly or indirectly to the people who are the citizens of this country. So, no citizen of this country need to be worry.
- This amendment do not effect any religions of the citizens of this country. So, there is no worry to Muslims or any other religions of this country.
- The amendments on citizenship Act do not apply to certain areas. These are: (i) the tribal areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, as included in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution, and (ii) the states regulated by the “Inner Line” permit under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulations 1873. So citizens from these specified areas shall not get affected in any ways.
Who are Beneficiaries?
- The Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019 is applicable to the Illegal Migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghanistan.
- Illegal migrants who came to India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, or Pakistan on or before December 31, 2014, who belong to the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, or Christian religious communities who is facing religious persecution in their country.
- The Bill makes only above named illegal migrants eligible for citizenship. These are persons belonging to the six specified religious communities, from the three specified countries, who entered India on or before December 31, 2014, and do not reside in the Sixth Schedule areas or in the states regulated by the Inner Line Permit states.
- For these specified religious illegal migrants number of years of residency has been relaxed from 11 years to five years to acquire Indian Citizenship.
Thus, the amendment to the existing citizenship Act is not at all applicable to the citizens of this country nor to their religion.
