New traffic rules, 2019 imposes heavy fines for offences like over speeding, drunk driving and riding without helmet. This kind of strict punishment is very much required in a country like India where over 50 % of the vehicle do not have an insurance and people riding or driving without any licence or other required documents. However, it was unfortunate to see the motor vehicle amendment Act fell into controversy in some of the states. As per my opinion we are not disciplined on roads by blood. We are not educated enough in the road discipline and majority of Indians do not have civic sense while driving or riding their vehicle which is need of an hour. It is the right time to strict punishment for violation of traffic rules and to bring discipline on roads.
Wrong doers must be punished......
This is a good time but extent of fine is too high and the penalty for non compliance should be reduced
ReplyDeleteThe quality of roads have a major impact on the road accidents...as long as the condition of roads remain the same...it is inherent for violation and accidents. The imposing of increase in fine i see as positive...because then people may be more careful or aware while driving, provided the conditions of the roads also improve.
ReplyDeleteI think the awareness and education regarding the traffic rules and other road manners should be taken more seriously during the license issuing process itself. According to me, lineancy in availing the vehicle license is the core problem in India.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the high number of deaths due to road traffic accidents every year, this is a good step taken by the government as it'll make people think twice before driving rashly or drunk driving, it will work with the proper cooperation of the traffic police.
ReplyDeleteRight time . The extent of fine can make citizens more cautious while on roads
ReplyDeleteYes we do need strict traffic rules and fines but according to my opinion the fine could be reduced a bit because the amount which they are taking now is very huge.
ReplyDeleteThe fines should be like this only because most of educated people also not following the rules and regulation in traffic . And how are not educated for them we should tell the rules. For example auto drivers will drive very rash driving on the roads. That y this rules should be implemented.
ReplyDeleteI feel this is an excellent way to discipline the people of a country.. If the fine or the legal action is minimum then No one will care about the road rules, as most violations are done by the wealthy, and spending a few rupees for d sake of their entertainment (fast driving etc.) won't make much of a difference to them. But as these are pinching amounts to most people, even those wealthy people will think twice before doing an illegal move..
ReplyDeleteRespected Sir..In my point of view I am totally agreed with these rules...What u mentioned above. Now a days peoples all have don't take care about their life..all r buisy with their Buisy life. Especially young students are most violating the rules..They don't wear helmets. No insurance, Over speed due to all this, day by day Death rate will increasing..Peoples all are living with their own rules..So I am totally agree with these new rules...
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU
Stricter rules and penalties are really the need of the hour. Also, the government must impose a strict process of acquiring driving license as the current system is laughable. It is one of the main reasons why there has been a steady rise in indisciplined driving, rule violation and accidents. The government must also work on imposing speed limits and make sure drivers adhere to these limits. Heavy fine is only part of the solution to the problem.
ReplyDeleteYes I partially support the views but i also suggest government to first follow and develop the policies for good transportation services which they should provide.and it's a right of a common man to get good roads and safety supplement then its ok to impose this fines for not following the rules and there should be transparent transaction of following the rules, fine hikes are also increased the rate of corruption from traffic police department.. safety is our major concern but government should first clear there glass window before and then tell others to clean.. this may change things a bit but first we should build a concrete base n then build a building don't directly build the top floor..
ReplyDeleteSuch rules are to be encouraged and but also the inefficiencies from government side to provide proper roads and street lights which are in defects have to be highlighted and corrected from their side.as the rough roads with no street lights are deadly combination in facing in manipal

ReplyDeleteImposing high fine might be one of the ways to discipline people on the road. But what about people who are not able to pay for it. There should have been circulation about this or a notice given that such rules will be coming into force from so and so date there by giving time for people to get their licenses done or insurance done. All of sudden imposing such rule and surprising the public is causing a chaos. Heavy fines will obviously discipline the ones who are not following the road rules. But is the government giving equal facilities for the ones who use the roads? Why are the roads all year broke. If it's imposing such strict rules it should also take the initiative to provide equally good roads.
ReplyDeleteYes strict rules and regulations required but also better quality is needed. Implementing helmets with ISI mark will bring more safety to the vehicle rider. Better quality of cars are needed with a NCAP safety rating of more than 3 stars. If rules are to be implemented it should start with the manufacturer. Only bringing stricter emission norms won't help the citizens.
ReplyDeleteYes I do think that imposing heavy fines are necessary to the people of India to understand how important road safety is. All these years, when there were no big fines, people had their ways on the road because of which accidents were eventually increasing. It's high time Indians understand the importance of safety on the road and atleast by this way, they be more careful
ReplyDeleteI believe a more stringent traffic fine structure is necessary in India. One of the ways were accidents overall can be decreased is by facilitating proper and scrutinised licensing of both 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers. Only when the citizens are thoroughly evaluated, there can be a decrease in the accidents occuring. But I would also like to raise issues relating to the road construction where it is not properly laid out and full of potlholes, poor lighting of the roads, etc which also causes a lot of accidents. It would be suitable to bring about a system of penalty for the poor construction of roads as well.
ReplyDeleteYes rules and regulations are very important as they are over speeding and falling into accidents. But the fees or the penalty for the vehicles is high if the amount of penalty would be reduced then it would be better. But on the other side it makes good decision to keep that much penalty because every one will wear all the safety device in order to atleast not give the huge amount of penalty and there would be no much accidents and over speeding and drink & drive activities.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a good step taken by the government considering the increased number of road accidents every year. I feel heavy fines is the only solution for road discipline in India. But it's also equally important for the government to work on providing good roads.
ReplyDeleteYes. Il agree upon ur view towards ur comment on road safety act which established government of India recently. It's better that each Indian should follow the traffic rules strictly.. Before that it's government responsibility to provide good quality of roads in each and every state... If they do so i feel number of accidents get reduce daily.. Along with that each and every person strictly should follow the traffic rules.. And the cost of the finen it is little huge.. It's better to reduce the cost of fine.
ReplyDeleteThank u
It is a good move in terms of implementing better traffic discipline. But the concerning part is the scope for corruption. It should be ensured that the money collected in the form fine moves through the proper channel. India being one of the most corrupted countries in the world, this new venture should not be a new channel for corruption. It should be used for betterment of the infrastructure which becomes the duty of the government.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the strict rule that was passed recently. Poor people can avoid breaking the rules and rich people also follow some rules because of the fine what they want to pay. So it is one of the good decisions what they passed.
ReplyDeleteEducating the not-so-educated drivers is just as important as the punishment that follows. This new rule should inspire forced change in behaviour rather than ways to escape the fines altogether. Possibility of corruption is also more likely now with much higher fine amounts
ReplyDeleteI Totally agree with these rules.High number of deaths due to road traffic accidents is increasing day by day, this is a good step taken by the government. It will make people think twice before driving rashly and also riding without helmets.I also agree with the strict rules in the same way we also want government to provide proper roads and street lights which must be corrected from their side .
ReplyDeleteRespected sir, in my point of view I believe this is the right action taken by government by amending the act . People will think twice hereafter breaking the rules and also at the same time will be cautious and serious when they drive / ride . But also the amount of penalties is extremely high on the other hand ,the government expect us to bide by their rules but they do not listen to our voice .for examples the conditions of the road is pathetic. It breaks once back while driving. It would be good if they utilize such money in construction of roads at the same time .
ReplyDeleteImpossing the heavy fine on trafic offensive is good as most of educate people though they know the rules but still they violate for some kind of fun . So having huge fine will made them to follow the rules because low fine, people don't even care for it. I would like to say one more thing that though imposing fines good but government should also focus on the condition of roads which is also lead to safety of public.
